Accompanied by a member of the Leonardi family, our beloved guests are welcome to discover the secrets of Balsamic Vinegar of Modena in our historic farm.
While walking through the vineyards and the aging rooms hosting over 3.000 barrels, visiting the Family Balsamic Museum, with its antiques and centenary barrels, you will feel the magic atmosphere and the heady scents all around.
You may try more than 150 years old (i mean..150 years old…) balsamic vinegar directly from the barrels in a very emotional experience involving all your senses.
Then time for “The Grand Balsamic Vinegar Pairing Lunch”, with some courses from the local tradition perfectly paired.
The Balsamic Vinegar is a very unique condiment, produced in limited quantity and only in the geographical areas of Modena & Reggio Emilia.
It seems in fact that the special climate of this region enables the grape must to ferment and maturate in the best conditions according to the traditional methods.

1871 – 2021: 150 YEARS OF LEONARDI BALSAMIC ART
In 1871, the Leonardi Vinegar farm was already well-known for its high quality.
Leonardi started its activity in the 18th century, later specializing in balsamic vinegar, using their own raw material as the farmhouse is surrounded by 10 hectares of vineyards. Leonardi is synonymous of passion, history and tradition.
For over 4 generations, it has been patiently devoted to the art of aging the precious Balsamic Vinegar of Modena.
Leonardi received hundreds of awards over the years in Italy and abroad.
Leonardi, the privilege of visiting, living, a Historic Acetaia.
This emotional tour that starts in the surrounding vineyards, where Leonardi family produces both vinegar and wine.
A member of the family will give an exclusive greeting to visitors, continuing the story and enriching the experience with exclusive anecdotes.
Our beloved guests, led by expert guides, will be able to visit the historic Leonardi Balsamic Farmhouse and to discover the traditions and secrets behind this typical product of Modena.
It will be reserved for WFTI guests to exclusively uncover the ancient Acetaie (vinegar cellars), full of fine casks in which centuries-old vinegars are aged and refined with care, passion and dedication since 1871, for four generations now of the Leonardi’s family.
Here, in the century old Acetaia, an emotional and impossible elsewhere tasting: three Balsamic Vinegars of various ages, plus vinegars of 50 and 100 years of age directly from the barrels…
Then the final event…
The tasting of the family’s “Black Gold”, the Leonardi family’s oldest vinegar, started in 1871 and aged for over 150 years.
Experience ends with a lunch made of Balsamic products & local specialties will be served, concluding the experience giving a touch of the culinary traditions of Modena and introducing people to the use of this versatile product in the kitchen.
The Grand Balsamic Vinegar Pairing Lunch
Wines:
Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena
Obtained from the slow cooking on direct fire of musts of Trebbiano and Lambrusco grapes, aged in little barriques of different woods (oak, cherry, juniper, chestnut, ash, acacia, mulberry) for minimum 12 years.
This nectar has a balanced sweet-and-sour taste which will sublime any sweet or savoury dish: from starters, first courses, meat, to cheese and desserts.
It is as well a great digestif if enjoyed pure off a spoon at the end of the meal.
